“My people have committed two sins:
They have forsaken me,
the spring of living water,
and have dug cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.”
We as a people have gotten away from God… The TRUE living water! The only thing that refeshes… Not only that but we have tried to create our own… We are not perfect and Holy as He so ours does not quench our thirst and our cisterns have cracks and holes… It can’t hold ANY water… Even if we tried to hold the Living Water… It takes God to love God… We try so hard to make our own water and our own cisterns but we just can’t… We try to fill ourselves with things that do not satisfy… They don’t fix our broken lives… They don’t even help! They just make us numb for a little bit with something running thro our cracks… Denomination is something I saw… It distorts the water but in their human state no water will stay… We are left empty w/ false religion instead of love. We try to model ourselves from other broken models… We look at magazines and movies trying to look and act like them… Other broke cisterns… Broken in our own thoughts and ways… Only HE can pour the blood over us so it can cover us and heal our cracks like a scab… Even though scabs are gross and you have to get hurt to need one, underneath is new skin… It’s beautiful and hasn’t yet seen the world so it is still soft… Not callous and hard… Only after we plead a the blood can we be filled with the Living water… Then and ONLY then will we be refreshed!
I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
(Philippians 1:6, NLT.)
It’s interesting that the last thing Jesus that said on the cross was, “It is finished.” It certainly looked like the end. It looked like it was over. But I believe that wasn’t just a statement of fact, it was a statement of faith. Jesus was saying to His Father, “I’ve done My part. I’ve fulfilled My destiny. Now I’ve got total trust and confidence in You that You are going to finish what You started.” Even though it looked like the end, in reality, it was only the beginning.
When it looks dark in your own life, when things aren’t going your way, dare to make that declaration of faith just like Jesus, “It is finished.” What you’re really saying is, “God, I know You are going to turn this situation around. I know You are going to heal my body. I know You are going to restore my family. I know You are going to give me the breaks that I need. I’ve done my part, and I know You will do Yours.” Always remember to speak victory over your circumstances because He is faithful, and He will complete what He’s started in you.
